Boys’ hoops takes down Royals again

A road win and a home loss last week gave the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team a 9-13 overall record heading into the final four-game stretch of the regular season.
The Panthers earned back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening week of the season by claiming a 62-53 triumph at Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
That win, combined with a 55-36 win vs. Litchfield four nights previous, gave GSL consecutive victories for the first time since the Panthers commenced the 2017-18 season by upending St. Peter, Tri-City United and Hutchinson.

Wrestlers fall in 2AA

The team season came to a close for the Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestlers last week. The Panthers fell 60-16 to St. Peter in the opening round of the Section 2AA Tournament at Waconia High School on Thursday, Feb. 15.
While the final tally was one-sided in favor of the Saints, the evening did get off to a rousing start for GSL/LP.
The Panthers took the first two matches of the night as Carter Ruschmeier blanked Hunter McCann 6-0 at 106 pounds before Sawyer Varpness rallied to topple Noah Hunt 11-10 at 113 to give GSL/LP an early 6-0 lead.

Greeley qualifies for state meet

Marissa Greeley will be representing the Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team at state as the Panther freshman finished third in the floor exercise at the Section 2A championship meet at Waconia High School on Thursdaday, Feb. 15.
“I think this season was Marissa’s,” coach Kim Hahn said. “She worked very hard to get to state. It has always been a goal of hers.
“This season she worked a lot of new skills into all her routines and her favorite event, floor, made her shine. I am very proud of her and all the hard work she put into this season – a very well deserved trip to State.”

Postseason draws ever nearer for girls’ cagers

he Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team lost its last hope at a conference title but remained in contention for a high sectional seed after going 2-1 last week as the regular season draws ever closer to completion.
Wright County Conference West leader Watertown-Mayer came to town on Tuesday, Feb. 13, holding a one-game lead on the Panthers atop the circuit standings.
While GSL held a slim 46-44 halftime lead, the Royals rallied in the second half to clinch the conference crown with an 81-77 defeat of the Panthers.

The citizens of the town of Round Grove in McLeod County are hereby notified that the Annual Township Meeting and Election will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
The business meeting will begin at 1:15 p.m. The agenda will include the 2019 township budget and levy and other proper business.
Election polls will open as soon as the meeting is adjourned, but no later than 4 p.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.
