Girl born to Glencoe couple

Alexis Perez and Martin Martinez of Glencoe announce the birth of their daughter, Azeneth Evangeline Martinez, who arrived March 20, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Azeneth weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 21 inches long at birth. Grandparents are Maria Luisa Martinez and Manuel Perez Rocha, both of Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Leticia Comacho Procopio and Joce Guadalupe Martinez, both of San Juan Xoconusco, Mexico.

Indoor tune-ups prepare GSL for season

As they wait for Stevens Seminary Stadium to thaw out, the Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams are keeping themselves busy with a series of pre-season indoor meets.
The Panthers got in two scrimmages last weekend and had one more planned for this week as they prime skills in anticipation of the spring season that will eventually come.
GSL traveled to the east on Friday, March 23, and packed into the Jordan Community Center for a field event scrimmage.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams took part in both the high and long jump, pole vault and shot put.

Softball scrimmages in St. Cloud

As a spring snowstorm that could have seriously complicated the start of their season pushed south of the area, the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team headed north for some scrimmaging under an inflatable dome at St. Cloud State University’s Husky Field.
Under the teflon sky on a brisk afternoon, the Panthers wore sweatpants and shirts in the precipitation-free, yet still unheated environs as they took on other traveling teams from around the region.

GKC competes in Hutch tourney

Members of the Glencoe Karate Club (GKC) were among 74 competitors to take part in a tournament hosted by the Hutchinson Shotokan Karate Club on Saturday, March 17 at the Hutch Event Center.
Maxton Krzmarzick placed first in Kihon (Basics) and fifth in Ribbon Kumite. Joseph Redman placed third in Kihon and second in Ribbon Kumite.
Abygail Smith took first in Kata and second in Team Kata, with Riley Spears placing fourth in Kata and third in Kumite.
