City of Brownton-Council Meeting

City of Brownton
Brownton City Council
March 6, 2018
٠ Resident Shawn McCoy approached Council asking for leniency on the no-parking ordinance to something less than November-March. He recommended mass texting or emailing when plowing; if vehicles are not moved, then ticket. Mayor Schwarze explained that when the decision to move their car is left up to the owner’s discretion, it doesn’t always constitute the best decision. Our no-parking ordinance is the same as Glencoe and Hutch. No changes to the existing ordinance were considered at this time.

GSL provides well for students of all walks

Let’s see — it’s the third week of March: besides marking the (hopefully) onset of spring, it’s when we feature the Glencoe-Silver Lake Knowledge Bowl teams on our front page. Once again, GSL is sending a team to the state Knowledge Bowl tournament.

Band, choir students represented GSL well in D.C.

To the Editor:
On Feb. 28 through March 5, we had the privilege of traveling with 118 Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) band and choir members and their two directors to Washington, D.C., for the band and choir trip. During the trip, the students had an opportunity to perform at a music clinic on the Joint Naval/Air Force Base Anacostia-Bolling, where they played and sang for members of the U.S. Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeants. In addition, the choir was able to perform inside the Lincoln Memorial, which was an incredible way to share their talents with other visitors.

Minnesota is a leader in the agriculture industry

To the Editor:
The week of March 18-24 is National Agriculture Week, and March 20 is National Agriculture Day. Our great state of Minnesota has a perfect blend of ways to enjoy the outdoors, great communities, career opportunities and economic growth. One of the primary areas that Minnesota gains significant value is in agriculture.
