Click It or Ticket campaign starts Monday

Imagine hopping on a rollercoaster, speeding at 70 mph and going upside down. Now close your eyes and imagine riding that same rollercoaster unbelted. It only takes a split second to realize the tragic consequences of an unbelted rollercoaster rider. If you wouldn’t ride a rollercoaster without a seat belt, why would you ride in a car without one? The two seconds it takes to buckle up in a vehicle can save your life if you are ever involved in a crash.

One-car crash results in minor injuries May 8

One person suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Sibley County Road 9, just south of 70th Street, about seven miles north of Arlington on Tuesday, May 8, at about 4:30 p.m.
A 2004 Chevrolet Classic was involved in the accident, and was driven by Vanessa Marie Godinez, 28, of Arlington. Godinez was not injured. A passenger, Osbaldo Cardoza, 26, of Arlington, had minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to the Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
The car had moderate damage.
The Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the accident.

4 injured when ATV rolls near Green Isle

Four people were injured when a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rolled over on Renville County Road 11, about one mile south of Green Isle, on Sunday afternoon at about 2:17 p.m.
According to the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, a juvenile was operating a 2007 Yamaha Rhino when the vehicle rolled along a driveway.

World War I display featured at Sibley museum

Volunteers at the Sibley County Historical Museum have been busy organizing a display of items from World War I, 1914 to 1918.
The display includes military uniforms, a flight suit worn 100 years ago by a Sibley County pilot, maps, discharge papers, along with short histories about the lives of these servicemen. The display is on the main floor and is handicapped accessible. Other artifacts, throughout the three floors, include agricultural items, household, toys, handicrafts, more military items and Sibley County government.

DFL District 18 endorsing convention set for May 22

The endorsing convention for DFL House candidates in Senate District 18 has been set for Tuesday, May 22, at the Hutchinson Days Inn, 1000 Highway West, Hutchinson.
The candidates running for those positions are Justin Vold, Darwin, for House District 18A, and Ashley Latzke, Gaylord, for House District 18B.

Weber awarded at Crookston

Spenser Weber, Silver Lake, received the Ag Systems management Award at the University of Minnesota, Crookston, at the university’s annual awards celebration in April.

Son born to Ramirez family

Charles and Julie Ramirez of Glencoe announce the arrival of a son, Austin William, who was born May 4, 2018, at 5:15 a.m., at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Austin weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20-1/2 inches long at birth.

Mayra Sanchez and Samuel Alvarado of Glencoe announce the arrival of a daughter, Selena Luz Alvarado, who was born May 9, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Selena weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19 inches long at birth. She joins siblings Genesis, Geniess and Samuel II. Grandparents are Luz Sanchez of Glencoe and Adalia Alvarado of Arlington.

Monica D. Kamps, 90, of Waconia

Monica Dorothy (Panning) Kamps, 90, of Waconia, formerly of Norwood Young America, died Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Waconia.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 10, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in rural Hamburg with the Rev. Daniel Schnabel officiating. Carol Lagergren was the organist. Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “Softly and Tenderly” and “Beyond the Sunset.”
Casket bearers were Chad Eischens, Brian Kamps, Mark Eischens, Nickolas Smith, David Panning and Larry Panning. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Stephanie Sipprell, 58, of Eden Prairie

Stephanie Jo Torgerson Sipprell, 58, of Eden Prairie, died peacefully at her home on May 5, 2018.
The memorial service will be Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. that day, at the church.
