Panthers blank Royals in 5AA

Win No. 1 of the postseason is in the books for the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team. The Panthers, seeded third in the Section 5AA playoffs, coasted past No. 14 seed Watertown-Mayer by a score of 6-0 on Thursday, May 24, to advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament.
GSL starter Chandler Glaeser earned the complete game shutout win on the mound, blanking the Royals and ending their season. Glaeser went all seven innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out six batters.

Girls win subsection track title, boys take second

The Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams hosted the Section 2A Subsection 8 championship meet on Thursday, May 24, with the Panther girls winning the subsection title and the boys finishing second.
After a full afternoon and evening of competition somewhat hampered by a large thunderstorm that blew through the area, the GSL girls recorded 200 points – eight better than second-place Jordan – to take top honors.
The Panther boys finished with 171 points, second to the 254 points tallied by the first-place Hubmen.

Panther girls’ shooters boast dominant spring

The Glencoe-Silver Lake trapshooting team finished the season in sixth place with an overall total of 13,894 points. Staples-Motley finished first with 22,414.5 points and Maple Grove finished second with 21,053.
The Panther girls dominated in the trap/skeet season. After the final week of trapshooting competed, GSL girls have captured the top four spots in Class 3A Conference 4.
