Lions announce Music in the Park schedule

The Glencoe Lions have scheduled their 2018 Music in The Park events for four Wednesdays, beginning June 27.
This year, five local businesses have again stepped forward to help sponsor the entertainment expense at each event, which will be held at Oak Leaf Park, Shelter 2.
The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, June 27 — Security Bank & Trust Co. will sponsor Allen and Matt Carlson, a father and son duo who share a passion for music, especially classic country, gospel and hymns that entertain audiences with positive, uplifting messages.

Chaska man injured in pickup-cycle crash

A Chaska man was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center Sunday after a pickup-motorcycle collision on Highway 19 near Sibley County Road 9. The accident was reported at 10:12 a.m.

Janette L. Goettl, 54, of Brownton

Janette Goettl, 54, of Brownton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A private family service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe. A celebration of life will be held at Backwoods Bar and Grill in New Auburn on Saturday, June 23, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Janette was a very giving person, and her final gift was a full body donation to the University of Minnesota for use in educational research.

Richard S. Kosek, 69, of Hutchinson

Richard “Dick” Steven Kosek, 69, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Brian Nehring and Mark Richardson officiating. Bonnie Westmiller was the organist. Tim Sanken offered the eulogy. Special music was a piano solo by Brendon Begnaud, “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns were “When Peace, Like a River,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”

Mavis Frauendienst, 69, New Auburn

Mavis Frauendienst, 69, of New Auburn, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 18, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn with interment in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.

Aurelia M.L. Luedtke, 100, of Glencoe

Aurelia Marie Louise (Dietel) Luedtke, 100, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 26, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Yvonne Schuette was the organist. Congregational hymns were “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Casket bearers were Gene Konerza, Allen Robeck, Jeff Schraeder, David Witthus, Joe Schmidt and Erik Juaire. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Students named to SDSU list

Several area students were named to the spring dean’s list at South Dakota State University (SDSU), including, from Brownton: Lindsay Miller and McKayla White; from Glencoe: Kirsten Barott, Alyssa Boesche, Amanda Husted, Katelynn Kunkel and Abbie Nistler; from Plato: Ashley Miller and Carter Pinske; and, from Silver Lake, Brandon Ebert and Lilianna Mallak.

Students named to dean’s list

Ashley Benson and Noah Roling, both of Stewart, were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Alexandria Technical and Community College.

Rochelle Tobeck graduates

Rochelle D. Tobeck of Glencoe graduated from Lake Area Tehnical College in Watertown, South Dakota, with a major in practical nursing. The graduation ceremony was held May 11.
