Locals earn nursing degrees

Crystal Marvan and Samantha Schilling, both of Silver Lake, recently graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul, with Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing.

Girl born to Brownton couple

James and Lexy Mellies of Brownton announce the arrival of a daughter, Andi Leeann Mellies, born May 19, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Andi weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20-1/2 inches long at birth. Grandparents are Carol and Les Mellies of Stewart and Mike and Rhonda Drysdale of Lake Crystal.

Elizabeth Lopez of Glencoe announces the birth of her daughter, Lupita Consuela Colin, born May 15, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Lupita weighed 8 pounds and was 20-1/2 inches long at birth. She joins siblings Adan, Darissa, Benjamin and Anahi. Grandparents are Teresa and Jaime Colin of New Auburn.

KCs announce scholarships

The Glencoe Knights of Columbus selected Ellie Schmidt and Adam Thalmann as the recipients of the 2017-2018 Christopher Council 4842 scholarships. the $500 scholarships are awarded to graduating members of St. Pius X parish pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities who have demonstrated academic achievement and a record of parish and community service.

Agencies stage mock plane crash

Supermileage performed efficiently in competition

Members of the Glencoe Silver Lake supermileage team placed third out of 15 teams in the electric car category at the 30th annual supermileage challenge at Brainerd International Raceway. The team qualified by completing six runs in under 24 minutes with the goal set on being as efficient as possible. On the three-mile track, they averaged 56 watts per six miles.
