Brewers defeat Winsted

A 5-3 win at Winsted gave the Glencoe Brewers a brief respite between losing streaks. While the win on Wednesday, June 20, snapped a three game skid, two more defeats followed as Glencoe entered this week with a 5-8 record.
Starting pitcher Derek Bratsch earned the victory at Winsted, scattering nine hits, a walk and three runs (two earned) over six innings, while striking out five. Tanner Grack came on for a three-inning save, allowing just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts.

Bruins rally to top Saints

A 1-2 stretch last week dropped the Brownton Bruins to the foot of the Crow River Valley League with a 2-8 record.
Brownton sandwiched a come-from-behind home win over Dassel-Cokato on Friday, June 22, with road losses at Waconia on Wednesday, June 20, and at Cologne on Sunday, June 24.
The Bruins trailed the Saints 4-0 after D-C scored two runs in the top of both the second and third innings.

Post 641 goes 2-2-1 at Andyman

It was a busy weekend for the Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team as the squad went 2-2-1 at the Andyman Tournament.
Plato picked up a 6-4 win over Eden Prairie 2 in the tournament opener in Young America on Friday, June 22.
After Eden Prairie seized a 4-0 lead in the second inning, Plato responded with six runs over the third and fourth frames and held on for the victory.
Starting pitcher Chandler Glaeser went all seven innings, allowing nine hits and four runs (three earned) while walking two and striking out five.

Blue Jays sit atop CRVL standings

It was a big weekend for the Plato Blue Jays as the squad upped its winning streak to five games with a pair of sizable victories.
Plato opened up the weekend with a 10-0 win over Glencoe in the Glencoe Days game at Vollmer Field. The Blue Jays gradually built the advantage, scoring two runs in the first, four in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh to end the contest early.
Starting pitcher Adam Prehn held the host Brewers to just three hits over six innings, walking three and striking out two.

Post 5102 improves to 6-7

The Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team improved to 6-7 overall entering this week after sweeping a doubleheader from the Hutch 15s and 16s and also claiming a pair of forfeits against Orono.
Glencoe opened last week by dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Delano on Monday, June 18.
Delano notched 10 hits in the Game One, with 5012 starting pitcher Drew Hedtke taking the loss in a 9-2 setback.
Offensively for Glencoe, Jake Christianson and Michael Waibel collected three hits apiece, while Bennett Lepel had a double among his two hits. Christianson scored both of 5102’s runs.
