Graupmann on dean’s list

Elsie Graupmann, daughter of Ann Graupmann of Plato, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Concordia College in Moorhead. She is a freshman at the college. To be named to the list, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Weber, Syverston graduate

Spenser Weber of Silver Lake and Luke Allan Syverston of Glencoe were among the spring graduates of University of Minnesota, Crookston. Weber graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural systems management, and Syverston graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Marvan named to honor list

John Marvan, Silver Lake, was among the students named to the spring president’s list at St. Cloud Technical & Community College. Students who achieve a 4.0 grade point average qualify for the president’s list.

Named to SCSU dean’s list

Local students who were among the 1,200 named to St. Cloud State University’s spring semester dean’s list are, from Glencoe: Tate Lilienthal, majoring in communications arts and literature; Derek Ortloff, majoring in technology management; and Tyler Raduenz, majoring in studio art; and, from Stewart: Caitlin Schulze, majoring in community health. Students who have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale qualify for the dean’s list.

Locals on St. Scholastica list

Among the students named to the College of St. Scholastica, Duluty, spring dean’s list were Morgan Harpel and Emily Popelka of Glencoe, Miranda Sweely of Stewart and Brittany Thiesfeld of Silver Lake. To be named to the list a student must maintain a minimum 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Rakow named to dean’s list

Faith Rakow of Silver Lake was named to the spring dean’s list at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and complete 12 or more credit hours.

Locals graduate from NDSU

Nicholas Roepke and Robyn Siewert, both of Glencoe, graduated from North Dakota State University (NDSU) this spring. Both earned Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration.

Miho named to BVU list

Margaret Miho, Stewart, was named to the Buena Vista University (BVU), Storm Lake, Iowa, dean’s list for terms three and four. Students named to the list must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the two terms, based on a 4.0 system, and complete 12 hours of course work.

Ruth Lila Biermann, 91, of NYA

Ruth Lila Biermann, 91, of Norwood Young America, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at The Haven at Peace Village in Norwood Young America.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. Eric Hutchison officiating. Rita Luecke was the organist. Soloist Todd Bentz sang “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Doug Stuedeman, saxophone, and Linda Stuedeman, piano, performed “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

Viola Mae Wurzberger, 84, of Glencoe

Viola Mae (Hamblin) Wurzberger, 84, of Glencoe, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 25, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating. Sue Mielke was the pianist. Aimee Miron and Kelli Killmer performed “I Can Only Imagine” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Gus and Irene Makovsky were the song leaders. Musical selections were “Here I Am, Lord,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “Song of Farewell” and “Amazing Grace.”
