Starting Aug. 1, access to the McLeod County Courthouse in Glencoe will be limited to the new, main entry on the southeast corner of the building, which means doors leading to the courthouse on the north side, off 11th Street, will be locked and alarmed.
In conjunction with its jail expansion project, McLeod County also began security measures at the courthouse and other buildings, including secured entrances to department offices and the installation of security glass on access windows, among other measures. The most current step is to reduce the number of entry points to the courthouse.
