Alfred Burdorf, 95, of Arlington

Alfred Burdorf, 95, of Arlington passed away Monday, Sept. 24, at Golden
Hearts Senior Living Center in Arlington. Funeral services were Saturday,
Sept. 29, 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service time Saturday all at the church.

Edwin Richard Ellis, 92, of Glencoe

Edwin Richard Ellis, 92, of Glencoe passed away Thursday, Sept. 20.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m., at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic next to his brother, Emil Ellis.

Albany Huskies blank GSL Panthers, 35-0

On the Panthers’ second road trip in as many weeks, they fell to the Albany Huskies by a score of 35-0. The Panthers turn the win-loss ratio to 2-2 with their two wins coming at home and their two losses on the road.
The Huskies moved their offense with force early in the game, scoring 21 of their points in the first quarter to send an early message. Fourteen of those points came so early, fans were still getting situated and finding their seats.

GSL volleyball team sweeps Hutch, Mound Westonka

For the first time since 2013, the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team claimed a three-game sweep over Hutchinson, as the Panthers defeated the visiting Tigers 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 Tuesday, Sept. 18.
“We know when we play Hutch that it will be a tough, competitive match,” coach Lori Schwirtz said. “Little did we know that we would prevail in three straight sets.”
The Panthers rallied from a 17-10 deficit to win the first game by two points and set the stage for the rest of the evening.
