Daughter born to couple

Breanna Heldt and Sean Kottke of Glencoe announce the arrival of a daughter, Emelia Eve Kottke, who was born March 3, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services. Emelia weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and was 20 inches long at birth. She joins siblings Elsie and Ella Kottke. Grandparents are Joan and Mark Walford of Glencoe, Gina and Pawel Spyra of Brownton, David and Vicki Heldt of Lester Prairie, and Dan Kottke of Glencoe.

Schuster promoted to major

Oliver Schuster, a graduate of McLeod West High School, Brownton and Stewart, was promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Army. He is currently stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Collins named to honor list

Keith Collins, Glencoe, was named to the fall semester 2017 honors list at Vermillion Community College in Ely. To be named to the honor list, a student must have a grade point average of 3.0 to 3.49 on a 4.0 scale.

Nix graduates from Upper Iowa

Joseph Nix of Glencoe graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, in December 2017. Nix earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business.

Kenneth William Donnay, 86, Glencoe

Kenneth William Donnay, 86, of Glencoe, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 7, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating. Mary Ann Thalmann was the pianist. Gus and Irene Makovsky were the song leaders. Musical selections were “Be Not Afraid,” “Blest Are They,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “Amazing Grace,” “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Though the Mountains May Fall.”

Laurence F. Oberlin, 90, of Glencoe

Laurence Francis Oberlin, 90, of Glencoe, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Katherine Rood officiating. Twyla Kirkeby was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “Thy Strong Word,” “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Abide With Me.”

Carol L. Mueller, 91, of rural Arlington

Carol L. Mueller, 91, of rural Arlington, died March 1, 2018, at Oak Terrace in Gaylord.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Henderson with the Rev. Deb Meyer officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery, Henderson.
