City Council must pass rate increases

Remember the famous Yogi Berra quote: “It’s deja vu all over again?”
Well, that’s definitely the feeling one might have after the Tuesday, Feb. 20, Glencoe City Council meeting.
A resolution was introduced to raise the wastewater utility rates, but failed because no one would second it.

A snowy venture to International Falls

By Rich Glennie
I did it again. I didn’t listen to my wife. Surprise!
I traveled (alone) to International Falls in the dead of winter last week. She refused to go along (again). She also warned me not to go. Temperatures were hovering near zero for highs and lows in the teens to 20 below up north. That part I can handle.
What I didn’t know until the day before I left was a snowstorm, or more precisely a blizzard, was predicted. Folks, it was more than a prediction.

Wright County cities pays less for policing

To the Editor:
The following is a list of towns that have Wright County policing. You are welcome to call them, as I have, and visit with them; Dan Anselment, or the county’s sheriff’s office, on how it is working. Something is amiss when 13 towns in Wright County average a police cost of $84.49 per capita and Glencoe’s per capacity is $210.22!
That statistics are presented by town, total billed in 2017, population and 2017 per capita cost:
Albertville — $710,290 billed; population: 7,044; per capita cost: $100.83.
