Gilbert A. “Bud” Soeffker, 90 of Glencoe passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 12, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. A gathering of family and friends will be observed Friday, Sept. 11, 4 to 7 p.m., and again Saturday, Sept. 12, one hour prior to the celebration of life service, all at the church.

Rose Ehlers, 93, of Hutchinson

Rose “Rosie” Elsie Ehlers, 93 of Hutchinson, formerly of rural Green Isle, died Friday, Aug. 28, at the Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson.
A public visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 3, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, concluding with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Eric Rapp. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, masks will be required along with social distancing. A private family funeral and burial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church and Cemetery, rural Green Isle.

Violet (Shovelin) Plonty was born May 14, 1935, to Lena and Frank Shovelin in Glencoe. Violet passed away in hospice care at Aurora, Edina, Aug. 26.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m., service at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hackensack.

A three-person crew from Scenic Sign Corp. of St. Cloud was in Glencoe last Wednesday, Aug. 19, upgrading the signs at Coborn’s on East 11th Street in Glencoe. The crew spent the day upgrading the signs on both the monument sign at the west end of the store’s parking lot and the tall sign high over Morningside Drive.

Glencoe’s Dollar Fresh opens Friday

A team of Hy-Vee and Dollar Fresh workers from around the Midwest spent Monday, Aug. 24, setting up Glencoe’s Dollar Fresh store for its grand opening Friday, Aug. 28. Money Potter is the project superintendent for Hy-Vee contruction. He was putting the finishing touches on the store’s card section. “I’m just putting finishing touches on things,” Potter said. “I oversaw the entire project.”
