From radio to parks, Carrigan moving up the dial with county

Jon Carrigan was inspired by a stranger on a flight to Colorado some years ago.
Carrigan was seated next to a man, about 45, flipping through an art magazine when he chose to strike up a conversation with him. The man was a pilot ready to quit his job and become an art dealer instead.
“He was firmly in the belief that a person goes through three careers in their life,” Carrigan said. “I’m on number two.”

GSL’s musical making the jump from fall to spring presentation

When the COVID-19 pandemic turned out the lights on Glencoe-Silver Lake’s plans for a fall musical, plans for a spring production slowly began evolving.
Those plans will take the stage May 6, 7 and 8, 7:30 p.m., when Glencoe-Silver Lake High School’s Drama Department presents “The Theory of Relativity” at Glencoe City Center. Glencoe City Center was selected as a venue because it permits ample space for a socially distanced musical.

Glencoe man happy to be helping others

Of all the activities he might take on tomorrow afternoon, Larry Macht can’t imagine being anywhere but the McLeod County Fairgrounds.
He won’t be there for the rides or judging farm animals. Macht won’t be at the fairgrounds for live music or a demolition derby. The county fair is slated for later this summer. The longtime Glencoe resident will be at the fairgrounds to lend a helping hand to people in need. He’ll be one of dozens of volunteers helping distribute food in a McLeod Emergency Food Shelf food giveaway.
