Paid campaign letter – Schmalz will work for good of residents, not political party

To the editor,
Please consider voting for Nathan Schmalz this November to become the next District 1 McLeod County Commissioner. Nathan is a lifelong resident of Winsted Township and has a long list of leadership and volunteer experience within our local communities. He is excited about the opportunity to extend that experience to represent the residents of District 1 on the McLeod County Board of Commissioners. He has served multiple terms on the Winsted Township Board and participated in numerous meetings, discussions, and actions at the county level as well.

Paid campaign letter – Former newspaper owner disagrees with columnist

To the editor,
My favorite Chronicle columnist told us last week that we must choose between two undesirable candidates for president on Nov. 3.
Rich Glennie wrote that he would vote for former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democrat who has a 47-year career in Washington, because he is the nicer of the two. His opponent, President Donald Trump, a brash New York businessman who is completing only his first term of office, apparently is too divisive.

Get it done, please – Our view: Separate bonding bill from spat with Walz

You don’t have to travel far or look hard to find people weary of the state’s restrictions related to mask use as Minnesota tries to minimize the impact of COVID-19. We get it; people are sick and tired of the limitations.
But the time has come for the legislature to come together and pass a bonding bill. That means lawmakers, especially Senate Republicans, have to separate their objections with Gov. Walz’s ongoing executive order from passing a bonding bill the legislature should have passed months ago.

With the help of $1 million in federal funding, the Glencoe City Council is considering a proposal to improve East 10th Street, between North Hennepin Avenue and Morningside Drive, next summer. The plan is expected to cost about $1.56 million. About 5,800 vehicles a day use the mile-long span between North Hennepin and Morningside.
