It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Dale Wraspir announces his passing Friday, July 26, at Ridgeview Medical Center. Mr. Wraspir was a current resident of Howard Lake, formerly a resident of Silver Lake.
A service for Mr. Wraspir will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2 to 4 p.m., at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Pastor John Thorson will officiate the prayer service starting at 4 p.m.
The Chilson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Its website is www.chilsonfuneralhome.com where online obituaries are located and condolences can be offered.

Paul Popelka, 86, of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, July 30, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m., at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following at Glencoe Public Cemetery.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, Aug. 4, 3 to 8 p.m., at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. The gathering will continue one hour prior to the service Monday.


National Weather Service confirms Sunday’s tornadoes

A tornado skirted the south side of Silver Lake Sunday afternoon. The EF-1 twister was one of three confirmed tornadoes that damaged houses, trees and crops near Biscay and Silver Lake. There were no injuries reported.

After a first-round bye, the Crow River Valley League northern division champion Glencoe Brewers are set to begin play in the Region 7C Tournament this weekend. The second-seeded Brewers are slated to take on No. 7 seed Winsted in their regional opener at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Carver.

Glencoe man looking forward to Sibley County Fair Demo Derby Sunday

Mark Lindemann, owner of The Lucky Brake Shop in Glencoe, will again be competing in the Sibley County Fair demolition derby Sunday, Aug. 4, 1:30 p.m., at the fairgrounds in Arlington. The 42-year-old Lindemann grew up in New Auburn and has been competing in demolition derby since he was 18.
