Letter: Writer stresses freedom of ‘religion,’ not of ‘worship’

To the editor,
The United States Constitution has been the backbone of arguably the most successful and most prosperous political experiment in history: the establishment of the U.S. government. Reading it makes me proud to be an American. Please don't hesitate to read and review it for yourself.


Letter: Gruenhagen vows to oppose state gas tax hike

To the editor,
During the last legislative session, House and Senate Republicans made historic investments in our roads and bridges without raising the gas tax by statutorily dedicating already existing automotive related taxes to fix our roads and bridges. Thanks to this legislation, we were able to increase transportation funding by around $418 million per biennium without raising taxes.
This year, House Democrats passed legislation that transfers $418 million out of the transportation fund back to the general fund to pay for a number of new government programs.

Connie K. Maguire, 72, of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, May 7, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 2 p.m., with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Evangelist Wanda King was the officiating clergy.
“I Found the Lily in my Valley” - Brian Haney, “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with you” - Alan Jackson, and “Nothing but Praise” - Brian Haney was the special music.
Larry King, Steve Joles, Chad Joles, Dale Joles, Nathan Maguire and Dylan Maguire were the casket-bearers.


Dolores J. Baker, 90, Chanhassen

Dolores J. “Dee” Baker, 90, of Chanhassen and formerly of Glencoe, died May 3, 2019 at the N.C. Little Hospice in Edina.
Dolores was born April 4, 1929, in northeast Minneapolis to Dominic and Marie (Kowalski) Cich. She lost her father to MS when she was 15.


Ruth Wendlandt, 78, of Gaylord

Ruth Anne Wendlandt, 78, of Gaylord, passed away Tuesday, May 7, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
A funeral service was held Friday, May 10, 11 a.m., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gaylord.
The Rev. Paul Tessmer was the officiating clergy.
Julianne Trebelhorn was the organist. “Lift High The Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Blessed Assurance” were the congregational hymns.

ORDINANCE NO. 604

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 701, SUBDIVISION 15 TO ADD SUBSECTION (N) REGARDING STATUTORY REGULATION OF DANGEROUS DOGS.
The City Council of the City of Glencoe ordains:
Section 1: Section 701, Subdivision 15 Dangerous Dogs shall be amended to add a Subsection (N) as follows:
The Animal Control Officer may regulate dangerous dogs in accordance with M.S. §§ 347.50 to 347.56, as it may be amended from time to time.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and publication.
Adopted this 6th day of May, 2019.
