BCA releases new details in Winsted death investigation

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died during a standoff with police on Monday, Jan. 23 in Winsted. Daniel Mark Paul, 50, of insted died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

County approves wellness check services for sheriff department personnel

Overall wellbeing, including mental and physical health, is something that each one of us strives to balance in our lives. Our law enforcement officers need support to find that balance as well. The McLeod County Board, at its Jan. 17 meeting, approved a one-year service agreement with Marie Ridgeway and Associates, LLC for annual wellness checks and follow-up sessions for sheriff’s office personnel. Sheriff Department Chief Deputy Aaron Ward told commissioners the check-ins are an opportunity for one-on-one consultations and education to support well-being.

The 39th annual McLeod County Corn and Soybean Growers Ag Appreciation Night banquet was held at the Pla-Mor Ballroom in Glencoe on Saturday with headline speaker Jerrid Sebesta, a former KARE 11 meteorologist. Now a financial adviser and motivational speaker, Sebesta, 44, mixed humor in with his advice on how to best balance living life and work. He currently lives on a hobby farm near Willmar with his wife and three children, while working as director of business development at Taatjes Financial Group.

Oria Brinkmeier, 90, Lester Prairie

Oria Albert Brinkmeier, age 90, of Lester Prairie, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 29.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11a.m., at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9:30 – 11 a.m., one and a half hours prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
