Mayor Wilson called the regular meeting of the city council to order at 7:00 p.m.
Members present: Lemke, Neid, Schrupp, Alexander and Robeck. Also present: City Administrator Mark Larson, City Attorney Mark Ostlund, Finance Director Trippel, PWDs Schreifels and Voigt, Fire Chief Scheidt, Police Chief Raiter.
Motion entered by Member Alexander to approve the consent agenda as presented. Member Neid seconded. Motion carried in a 5 to 0 vote.

A good scrubbing

Armed with a disinfectant, Wanda Foss scrubbed bleachers and hand railings in GSL High School’s old gym last week. Foss, Allison Maas (background) and their coworkers at Dashir Management are cleaning GSL school facilities while students are away from the buildings.

Even without hoops showcase, Orth Foundation aims to keep on giving

Three families in Glencoe and the area will be among the 12 families selected to receive funds from the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation fundraiser. The foundation’s basketball showcase scheduled for Saturday, March 28, was canceled because of the COVID-19 virus. Foundation members are pushing to continue fundraising. The foundation will help Silver Lake’s Alycia Subak, 14, who lives with autism, ADHD and epilepsy sunflower disorder.

Trailblazer driver turned troubling news into opportunity

Trailblazer Transit driver Jason Brinkman came up with the idea of using Trailblazer drivers and buses to deliver meals to county seniors and shut-ins. Brinkman, who lives in rural Glencoe, drove the first route last week

Putting the pieces together

Matt Varpness of Rice Companies Construction’s office in Glencoe continued working on finishing the mens’ and womens’ restrooms on the west side of Glencoe City Center. The city wants the renovation work completed this spring. The project has taken longer than expected, thanks to the combination of a restroom constructed in 1936, using some parts that met building code in 2010 but now have to be adjusted to meet the 2020 building code.
