Without a doubt, this is what Congress represents

By Lee H. Hamilton
In one of the U.S. Capitol hallways House members pass through to get to the chambers, there’s an inscription of a comment by Alexander Hamilton. It reads simply, “Here, Sir, the people govern.”
I’ve always thought that was a good summation of what Congress represents: it is a repository of the thoughts and will of the American people. A lot of Americans think highly of that idea, too. People may be disappointed in how Congress performs, but not in its role within our system. I’ve never heard anyone say we’d be better off without it.

Unchartered territory – Our view: It’s usually better to err cautiously

No doubt we’ve all sat back during the past week and watched the impact of the COVID-19/Coronavirus sweep its way around the world and throughout the United States. We’ve seen the impact fear of the virus has had, from Wall Street to main street. It has impacted most every facet of American life and will continue to do so in the weeks, perhaps months to come.
