Bruce Bradley Mielke, 68, Brownton

Bruce Bradley Mielke, 68, of Brownton, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at his home.
 
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Revs. Scott Grorud and Dave Wollan officiating. Mike Lauer was the pianist. Congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Beyond the Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art.”
 
Urn bearers were Logan Broich and Eva Broich.

Harriet Alma Estelle (Nagel) Kruckman, 88, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating.

Cross country second, fourth at Watertown-Mayer Invite

With the close of the regular season at hand, the Glencoe-Silver Lake cross country teams competed in the Watertown-Mayer Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 13. It was the final race of the season before the conference, section and state meets.

The Panther boys finished second in the meet, buoyed by a first-place finish from Michael Schaefer. The senior honed his form before championship meet season with a winning time of 17 minutes, 18.6 seconds – over four seconds better than Zachary Boos of Annandale.

GSL girls bow out in sections

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ soccer season came to a close on Tuesday, Oct. 13 with a 5-0 loss at Mankato Loyola in the opening round of the Section 2A Tournament.

After holding Loyola scoreless for nearly a half-hour, the Panthers allowed their hosts a pair of quick goals and could not recover before the final horn sounded to close out GSL’s season.

The Panthers finished with a 2-10-3 overall record and were 1-7-2 in Wright County Conference play.
