Legislature could have finished its work

To the Editor:
I believe that the Republican led Minnesota legislature is largely responsible for the legislature not finishing its work this session. According to the editor of Mankato Free Press, the process the Republicans used of omnibus bills was unconstitutional. They were well aware of this but chose to do it anyway.

Glencoe Community Blood Drive a success

o the Editor:
The second Glencoe Community Blood Drive of 2018 was held Wednesday, July 11, at the Glencoe City Center ballroom. The American Red Cross set our goal at 111 units; we fell short of the goal and collected 97 units. Because the ARC has such a shortage of blood available, they were still very pleased with the results. 97 units have the potential to help up to 291 patients.

MPCA reps discuss WWTP project

On a scale of 1 to 10, the arrogance recently shown Glencoe City Council members by three representatives of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) may have broken the scale.

Council tables Hennepin Ave. building demolition, again

For the second meeting in a row, Glencoe City Council tabled any action on demolishing the former General Store building, 1128 Hennepin Avenue, because of the complications with the property. The old store is in close proximity to Kevin Post’s building to the north and the Home Solutions building to the south.
City Attorney Mark Ostlund recommended tabling action again because of liability issues over demolishing the building. After researching the situation, Ostlund stated there is no shared wall agreement on this property.
