Pearl Stuedemann, 81, Gaylord

Pearl Stuedemann, age 81, of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, November 1, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord. Funeral Service will be Saturday, Nov. 12, 11:00 a.m. at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 11, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Officiating clergy will be Pastor Matthew Garavalia, with organist Marie Engel.

‘Jekyll and Hyde’ opens Thursday at GSL

The fall musical at Glencoe-Silver Lake is as much of a tradition as football or Thanksgiving dinner at grandma’s house.
This year the show goes on with a new director at the helm. Jeff Iverson makes his debut as the musical’s director, after assisting long-time director Kay Wilson since his arrival at GSL in 2019.
Cast, crew, musicians and directors have been working for months, before the start of the official school year, to present another fantastic show.

McLeod Co. Sheriff’s Department assists feds in nationwide catalytic converter theft ring

Federal, state, and local law enforcement partners from across the United States executed a nationwide, coordinated takedown Nov. 2 of leaders and associates of a national network of thieves, dealers, and processors for their roles in conspiracies involving stolen catalytic converters sold to a metal refinery for tens of millions of dollars.

Local veteran wants to remember those who served in Company D

It was known as the “Forgotten War.” It was a brutal war, fought under harsh conditions and coming on the heels of an exhausting, worldwide conflict — the Second World War. The United States was war-weary.
The Korean Conflict began June 25, 1950 when Communist North Korea invaded South Korea, sparking a response from the United Nations.
Within that war was an all-but-forgotten Air National Guard unit based in Glencoe. One of the only surviving members of that unit does not want that to be forgotten, too.

County Attorney
Ryan Hansch has been elected as County Attorney beating his opponent Amy Olson Wehseler. Hansch received 9,883 votes while Wehseler received 5,473 votes, and there were 32 write-in votes.

Incumbents Krueger and Nagel elected County Commissioners
Doug Krueger won the District 2 commissioner seat with 2,506 votes, with 43 write-in votes cast against him and Joe Nagel won the District 5 seat with 2,459 votes, with 39 write-in votes cast against him.
