‘Living Nativity’ to be presented Saturday in Oak Leaf Park

Chronicle file photo Dozens of volunteers help present Glencoe’s Living Nativity. It will be presented Saturday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Dozens of volunteers from Glencoe area churches and the community will present a holiday tradition Saturday evening at Oak Leaf Park.
A Living Nativity will be presented from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitors should enter the park from its southernmost entrance and turn left at Vollmer Field.
It will feature a half-dozen biblical scenes telling the story of Jesus’s birth, from the Angel Gabriel telling Mary she will give birth to the savior, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem, shepherds watching over their flocks, rejoicing angels, wise men bearing gifts traveling to see the newborn savior, and the holy family in the stable. There will be music, live animals, handcrafted scenery and community members dressed in character to provide a memorable Christmas experience, said Cindy Eggersgluess of First Evengelical Lutheran Church.
This is the fourth time the Living Nativity has been presented in Glencoe. It started in 2012 and occurs every other year. A team of about 75 volunteers handles everything from planning to presentation. The costumes are borrowed from Arlington’s Living Nativity presentation last weekend.
