3 Hutch teens hurt in one-vehicle crash
Three Hutchinson teen-agers were injured in a one-vehicle rollover north of Buffalo Lake on Friday just before midnight, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. The accident was reported at 11:50 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, Marcus Smahel, 16, of rural Hutchinson, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado east on 850th Avenue in Boon Lake Township when he swerved to miss a dog in the roadway, lost control and entered the ditch. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest in a field. One of the three occupants was ejected.
Smahel and passenger Mackenna Stuber, 17, of Hutchinson, were taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger who was ejected from the vehicle, 15-year-old Kalvin Koenig of rural Hutchinson, was flown from the scene by North Memorial Air Care to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with unknown injuries.
Assisting at the scene were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo Lake Police Department, Buffalo Lake Ambulance, Buffalo Lake Fire Department, Hector Ambulance, Allina Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
The crash remains under investigation.
