30th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade set March 17
Silver Lake’s 30th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and Irish party are set for Friday, March 17, at 5:30 p.m.
All Irish and “Irish in heart” are welcome to be in the parade. There are no forms to fill out and no one to call – just get out the green and be at the parade around 5 p.m. to line up.
The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside School and end at the intersection of Main Street and Park Avenue. Respect for the American Legion Color Guard and American Flag will be observed by all as the flag passes by in the parade. The Silver Lake Fire Department, Silver Lake Pola-Czesky Royalty and all Irish and Irish at heart are welcome. Kiddos, bring your parade candy bags.
The “After Glow” following the parade will be held at the Silver Lake American Legion Club in the northwest room for a family-oriented get-together. An Irish meal of Irish goulash, potato pancakes, coleslaw, applesauce, bread and butter, cookies and cupcakes will be served by the Silver Lake Lions Club and volunteers, along with hot dogs and applesauce for the little Leprechauns! Proceeds go to the Glencoe-Silver Lake communities.
