Alpha Rosenow
Alpha E. Rosenow, 87, of Hutchinson, formerly of Brownton, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
 
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. Norma Witte was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Rock of Ages,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Jesus Christ is Risen Today.”
 
Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Ryan Rosenow, Paul Rosenow, Reid Rosenow, Corey Schwanke, Kellie Richmond, Joshua Fasching, Dustin Fasching and Nathan Fasching. Honorary casket bearers were her great-grandchildren, Laila Rosenow, Graysen Rosenow, Sadie Rosenow, Trey Richmond, Sienna Richmond, Simley Fasching and Jordan Fasching.
 
Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brownton.
 
Alpha Esther Wilimina Minnie Rosenow was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Penn Township, McLeod County. She was the daughter of Elmer and Laura (Witte) Gehrke. She was baptized as an infant in 1928 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township by the Rev. N. Walter Diemer, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 6, 1941, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart by the Rev. C.H. Kowalske. She attended school in her hometown area and Renville County School District 2890.
 
On Sept. 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Frederic “Fred” Rosenow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Gerald, Bruce and Judy. The couple resided at Lake Marion, and moved to Brownton in 1971. They shared 54 years of marriage before Mr. Rosenow’s death on March 6, 2001. Mrs. Rosenow moved to the Ecumen Oaks Assisted Living in Hutchinson in 2013.
 
Mrs. Rosenow was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was employed at Goodman Produce in Stewart and later worked at 3M Company in Hutchinson. She retired in 1991. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, and the Brownton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 143.
 
Mrs. Rosenow enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice, listening to old-time music polka music and going on trips to the casinos. She loved fishing and going on pontoon rides at their cabin on Big Swan Lake in Meeker County, rural Dassel. She enjoyed watching all Minnesota sports on TV and listening to high school sports on the radio. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.
 
She is survived by her children, Bruce (Jackie) Rosenow of Hutchinson and Judy Schwanke of New Auburn; grandchildren, Ryan (wife Jennie Werther) Rosenow of Delano, Paul Rosenow of Hutchinson, Reid Rosenow of Lauderdale, Corey Schwanke of New Auburn, Kellie (Chris Richmond of Cibolo, Texas, Joshua (Katie) Fasching of Lakeville, Dustin Fasching of North Carolina and Nathan Fasching of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Laila Rosenow, Graysen Rosenow, Sadie Rosenow, Trey Richmond, Sienna Richmond, Simley Fasching and Jordan Fasching; brother, Norman (Donna) Gehrke of Brownton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Laura Gehrke; husband, Fred Rosenow; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Linda Rosenow; son-in-law, Willis Schwanke; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and David Decker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Millie Rosenow, Walter and Lillian Rosenow, Frank Rosenow and his wives, Marie and Lorraine, and Bill Rosenow; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Minnie and Henry Henke and Grace and Francis Callier.
