Alton ‘Al’ Branden, 86, of Silver Lake
Alton “Al” Branden, 86, of Silver Lake, died May 6, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 14, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake. Interment followed at Faith Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Alton “Al” Branden was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Emerald, Wisconsin, to Otto and Christine (Melby) Branden. He was 7 years old when they moved to New Brighton.
He worked at fruit farms in his teens. He drove a truck for Mengelkoch Company for 41 years.
On Feb. 14, 1981, he married Pearl Jerabek. They built Lake Side Manor Apartments in 1984.
He enjoyed deer hunting with his friend DuWayne at Richmond and fishing and camping at the cabin by Pillager. He was a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He sang in the church choir, served on the session and was a deacon when he retired from Mengelkoch Company. He was a member of the Mariner’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pearl; daughter, Gerriane (Paul); son, Joe (Deborah; stepson Dale (Doris); stepdaughter Sandy (Rich); six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Wangensteen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Micheal, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanore (Fred), Virginia (Joe) and Wilma (Ray).
