Alvin M. Dudek, 87, of Watertown

Alvin M. Dudek, 87, of Watertown, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Joseph Fink as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday one hour prior to the Mass, all at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chris Buehl, Warren Latham, Scott Dudek, Derek Smith, Nick Dudek, Joseph Buehl. Honorary pallbearers Ryan Hartshorn, Paul Shetka, Brandon Rathert, Douglas Dudek and Andrew Dudek.
Alvin Michael Dudek was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Silver Lake, the son of Frank and Anna (Lorence) Dudek. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Silver Lake High School.
On June 14, 1944, he entered active service in the U.S. Navy. He served until his honorable discharge on June 5, 1946. Upon returning from the service, he attended the Dunwoody Institute. On June 5, 1948, he was united in marriage with Delores Stein at Our Lady Of The Catholic Church in Mound. Mr. Dudek worked for the JR Clark Company in Spring Park for 18 years and retired from Metro Machine in Eden Prairie after 22 years.
Mr. Dudek was a member of the Hopkins American Legion. He enjoyed sharing time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A highlight for him was a trip to the Czech Republic to meet distant relatives. He liked dancing, trips to the casino, junk food and pop, and a barbecued rib dinner.
Mr. Dudek was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Latham; parents, Anna and Frank Dudek; brothers, Raymond Dudek and James Dudek; sister, Mabel Londergan; and loving companion and friend, Oliver.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Delores Dudek of Watertown; children, Michael (Rose) Dudek of St. Cloud, Jean (George) Buehl of Watertown, Mark (Loretta) Dudek of Springfield, Mo., and Terrie (Damon) Smith of Richfield; grandchildren, Tracy Esid, Warren (Jesse) Latham, Scott (Janelle) Dudek, Andy (Allison) Dudek, Tiffany (Paul) Shetka, Doug (Alisha) Dudek, Chris (Karie) Buehl, Angie (Ryan) Hartshorn, Joe (Jackie) Buehl, Jeff (Charlene) Reuben, Holly (Matt) Cammarasana, Nick (Huyn Sun) Dudek, Heidi (Terry) Richards, Katie (Brandon) Rathert and Derek Smith; 27 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Juanita Urban of Biscay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
