Annual Blizzard Blast set for Feb. 2 in Glencoe

The 12th annual Blizzard Blast charity event, a fundraiser for the Allina Hospice program, is set for Friday, Feb. 2, at 5:30 p.m., at the Glencoe City Center.
According to Lona Oltmann of Allina, the annual event has almost quadrupled its revenue since its inception 12 years ago.
“We expect this to be the best year yet,” said Oltmann.
Dr. Bill Dunbar will be the emcee, Ron Stuedemann is the guest speaker, and music will be by Doug Stuedemann and South 40. There also is a meal catered by Chef Craig and a live and silent auctions.
“We have exciting new live and silent auction items,” said Oltmann.
Among those are a glider bench (which is currently on display at Coborn’s), donated by Frank Heiland Construction Co.; a community supported agriculture share (CSA) of 18 weeks of fresh veggies from Tangletown Gardens, as well as two tickets to its annual outdoor banquet; a backyard bonfire kit with a fire ring, cooler, roasting forks, Vikings folding chairs and blankets and more, donated by Al and Judy Hecksel and Wade and Mary Trnka; and a six-person party bus, donated by Tom Pinske.
