Ardell Virginia Miller, 90, of Glencoe

Ardell V. Miller, 90, of Glencoe, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long-Term Care.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Nov. 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato with the Rev. Tyson Mastin officiating. Cheryl Andrix was the organist. Congregational hymns were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “Abide With Me.”
Interment was in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Ardell Virginia Miller was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Ceresco, Neb. She was the daughter of Arvid and Mabel (Anderson) Swanson. She was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Ceresco Covenant Church. She was educated in Ceresco, graduating from Ceresco High School. She went on to Midland College in Freemont, Neb., where she completed secretarial courses. After college she went to work in Omaha, Neb., where she met Wally, her future husband, who was stationed there with the Air Force.
On Dec. 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Walter Miller. They made their home in Plato. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Calvin and Carol. The couple shared over 68 years of marriage.
Mrs. Miller began teaching piano in 1950 and actually gave lessons until January 2014. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.
She loved playing and teaching the piano and organ, leading the church choir, being active with Sunday school, Ladies Aid and was a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. She cherished the time spent with the young, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Miller of Plato; children, Carol Seifert of Sycamore, Ill., and Calvin Miller of Plato; grandchildren, Katie (Sam) Rodriquz and Scott (Marissa) Seifert; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Olivia, Christian and Harper; sister, Mariel (Guy) Patzloff of Edina; and nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and Mabel (Anderson) Swanson.
