Arts Prowl set for May 8-May 23
A new version of the Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) Panther Arts Prowl is to have the selected districtwide artwork up for two weeks.
The art display will begin Tuesday, May 8, and continue through Wednesday, May 23, in the commons area of the high school. There will be an open house and closing reception and awards ceremony on May 23. The awards presentation will be in the auditorium.
During the two week period, there will be four music concerts and senior awards. The artwork will be judged and receive first, second, third and fourth places for 2D and 3D for kindergarten through third grades, fourth through sixth grades, seventh through eight grades and ninth through 12th grades.
There also will be a best of show and a people’s choice awards. The public will have opportunity to view the art and vote anytime between May 8 through 21 before, during or after the following events: May 8 seventh- and eighth-grade concert; May 10th second-grade concert; May 17, ninth- through 12th-grade concert and senior awards banquet; and the May 21 choir concert.
Students who have received art awards and special recognition throughout the year will be recognized at the open house, closing reception and recognition and awards program on May 23. The open house reception and art viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the high school commons area. Presentation of awards and recognition will be in the high school auditorium from 7 p.m. until completion. At the close of the presentation, artwork can be taken home.
