Betty Ann Smith, 68, of Glencoe

Betty Ann (Cohrs) Smith, 68, of Glencoe, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Care Long-Term Care.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
The Rev. Ronald Mathison officiated. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Soloist Lawrence Biermann sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns were “Jesus Loves Me,” “Abide With Me,” “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Lift High the Cross.”
Pallbearers were Richard Gebhardt, Kevin Cohrs, Richard Cohrs, William Gahl, Roger Cohrs, Glenn Ehrke, Stanley Ehrke and Bill Schieble.
Betty Ann (Cohrs) Smith was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Glencoe, the daughter of Ewald and Gladys (Gebhardt) Cohrs. She was baptized as an infant on Oct. 20, 1946, by the Rev. Alf. Streufert, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 21, 1961, by the Rev. R.F. Meissner, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She was educated in New Auburn. She worked at Starkey’s and later moved to Minneapolis, where she lived at the Outreach Living Center and worked for Control Data in Bloomington.
While working at Hands in Winthrop, she met Richard Smith and they were united in marriage by the Rev. Harvey G. Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The couple made their home in Green Isle, and moved to Grand Meadows Living Center in Glencoe in 2011. They shared over 22 years of marriage.
She was a member of 4-H as a child and loved it. She also was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Mrs. Smith loved spending time with her husband Richard. She enjoyed animals, cross stitch, driving around and going out to eat. She treasured the moments spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Smith of Glencoe; sisters, Carol (Allen) Swenson of Litchfield and Elaine (Larry) White of Mayer; sister-in-law, Joy Cohrs of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Gladys Cohrs; brothers, an infant boy, Dennis Cohrs and Donovan Cohrs and his, Pat.
