Blue Jays bash St. Boni

The Plato Blue Jays amateur baseball team wanted to get its season off on the right foot. Mission accomplished.
With an 11-0 blanking of host St. Bonifacious, the Blue Jays looked every bit the part of a force to be reckoned with this summer – even if many of the team regulars had not yet re-joined the ranks.
“We didn’t have our full team,” manager Adam Dammann said. “The nice thing was, we had a lot of younger newcomers doing the job.”
While several fresh faces were in the dugout and on the field, Plato used 84 years of experience on the mound. A pair of 42-year olds in Brian Graupmann and Matt Odegaard kept the hosts scoreless over seven innings. Starter Graupmann struck out seven batters while giving up just one hit. Odegaard matched those numbers in two innings of relief.
Another familiar face, Joe Nix, led the Blue Jays offense with four RBI on a pair of doubles, scoring once himself. Matt Odegaard launched the game’s lone home run, a solo shot, accounting for one of his three runs scored. Chris Odegaard and Tony Wischnack each scored twice.
