Blue Jays drop a pair

Green Isle dealt the Plato Blue Jays their first loss in Crow River Valley League play over the weekend, topping their hosts 4-2 in a West Division showdown on Sunday, May 22.

The loss was the Blue Jays’ second of a busy three-game set, as Chaska also defeated Plato 2-1 on Thursday, May 19. The Blue Jays did bust out the bats in the middle game of the trio, blasting Winsted 9-1 on Saturday, May 21.

Host Chaska got Plato’s long weekend off to a frustrating start, making a two-run second inning hold up to send the Blue Jays to a narrow non-league loss.

Tony Beringer scored Plato’s lone run of the game in the eighth inning and also scored three of the Blue Jays’ eight hits. Kyle Panning was the only other Plato batter with more than one hit, logging a pair of singles.

Cody Hallahan went all eight innings for the Blue Jays, suffering the hard luck loss despite giving up just one earned run.
