Blue Jays nip mini-skid in the bud

The Plato Blue Jays nipped their second two-game losing streak of the season square in the bud by claiming a pair of weekend wins.

After coming up on the short end of a 4-1 loss at Watertown on Wednesday, June 21 – a loss that dropped Plato to 7-6 overall on the season – the Blue Jays fought back to win 3-0 at Carver on Saturday, June 24, before rallying for a 4-3 home win over Young America the next evening.

Plato returned to Bluejay Stadium on Sunday, June 25, for the first time in five weeks against the neighboring Cardinals, which the Blue Jays thumped 10-0 in Young America earlier this month.

However, the Cardinals held a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning of the rematch before the hosts posted three runs over their final two turns at the plate for the one-run win.

Chris Odegaard’s two-RBI double in the seventh inning knotted the score before Mitch Pinske’s RBI double in the eighth proved to be the game winner.
