Blue Jays sit atop CRVL standings

It was a big weekend for the Plato Blue Jays as the squad upped its winning streak to five games with a pair of sizable victories.
Plato opened up the weekend with a 10-0 win over Glencoe in the Glencoe Days game at Vollmer Field. The Blue Jays gradually built the advantage, scoring two runs in the first, four in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh to end the contest early.
Starting pitcher Adam Prehn held the host Brewers to just three hits over six innings, walking three and striking out two.
Dylan McCormick moved from third base to the mound to mop up the final inning, allowing no baserunners while striking out one batter.
Kyle Panning put the Blue Jays up for good on a two-out, two-RBI double that plated Matt Odegaard and Nolan Lepel. Mitchell Boesche also had two RBI in the game, also scoring one run on a 3-for-4 evening at the plate. Prehn and Lepel each scored twice.
Two days later, Plato took over the top spot in both the Crow River Valley League South Division and Region 7C standings by means of a 12-1 shellacking of Carver.
Odegaard finished off the contest with a walk-off eighth-inning grand slam as the Blue Jays avenged their lone loss of the season to date: a 6-5 setback at Carver on May 20.
Tyler Lang also homered in the contest, driving in four runs while scoring three on a 4-for-5 afternoon in the batter’s box. Chris Odegaard started on the mound, allowing four hits and one run while striking out two. At the plate, he went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
Plato, now 8-1 on the year, travels to Green Isle for a 7:30 p.m. start on Thursday. The Blue Jays return home to take on Brownton at 1 p.m. Saturday.
