Blue Jays split weekly set
The Plato Blue Jays narrowly missed out on a chance to catch the Brownton Bruins atop the Crow River Valley League (CRVL) standings after falling 3-2 at Brownton on Wednesday, July 8.
However, the Blue Jays stayed right on the Bruins’ tail as both teams met with opposing outcomes in their respective weekend follow ups.
Plato did its part to stay just one game off Brownton’s lead pace in the CRVLâSouth by topping New Germany 7-2 at Blue Jay Stadium on Saturday, July 18 before the Bruins 4-3 decision at Carver the next day.
Bruins 3, Plato 2
Host Brownton set out to a 2-0 first-inning lead in the taut division battle, before Plato knotted the count at 2-all in the top of the fifth inning.
Ben Slater plated Mitchell Pinske with the Blue Jays’ first run of the game on an RBI double, before Slater himself was driven home on a sacrifice fly by Brian Graupmann to tie the game into the seventh inning.
