Boys’ hoop heads to playoffs on a loss
The Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team wrapped up its regular season schedule with a 68-62 loss at Mound Westonka on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Individual statistics were not available.
Also lost on the night were the services of forward Alex Romano, who went down with a dislocated ankle suffered in the contest.
The loss dropped the Panthers to 8-18 overall. GSL finished sixth in the final Wright County Conference West standings with a 5-9 league record.
The Panthers began the postseason on Tuesday, Feb. 23, after the Chronicle went to press. GSL, the No. 5 seed in the Section 2AA North subsectional, played at fourth seeded Jordan in the opening round.
A defeat of the Hubmen would advance the Panthers into a subsectional semifinal matchup on Friday night at New Prague. GSL would face either No. 1 seed Belle Plaine or No. 8 Tri-City United.
