Boys’ hoop splits a pair

A 63-50 win at Mound Westonka last week snapped a three-game losing streak for the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team. However, the Panthers could only manage a split for the week after losing 72-71 at Rockford.
GSL held a 44-36 halftime lead against the Rockets on Friday, Jan. 27, but could not hang on in losing by a single point. Forward Kyle Christensen led all scorers with 26 points, with guards Luke Frahm and Tyler Ehrke chipping in with 12 and nine points, respectively.
The loss put a bit of a damper on GSL’s 13-point win at Mound Westonka on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Individual scorers were not available.
This week concludes the first run through the Panthers’ Wright County Conference West schedule. GSL traveled to the circuit’s westernmost outpost with a trip to New London-Spicer on Tuesday, Jan. 31, after the Chronicle went to press.
GSL returns home on Friday to take on Dassel-Cokato, and then takes a week off before beginning the second trip through conference play on Friday, Feb. 10, at Litchfield.
Entering this week, the Panthers were 10-7 overall, but 1-4 against their WCC West competitors.
