Boys’ hoops claims another WCC split

It was a little bit of déjà vu for the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team last week as the Panthers lost their second consecutive 72-71 game before closing out the week with a victory.
Coming off a 72-71 loss at Rockford on Friday, Jan. 27, the Panthers lost by the exact same score at New London-Spicer on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
The Wildcats led the Panthers 30-26 at the break, however it was a pair of 9-0 runs that kept NL-S in the lead at the end despite five GSL players mustering double digits in scoring.
Forward Kyle Christensen led the Panthers with 18 points, with center Jacob Litzau and guard Mitchell Boesche logging 12 points apiece. Guard Luke Frahm and forward Matt Sanchez each chipped in 11 points in the defeat.
GSL got back to its winning ways by closing out the first leg of Wright County Conference West play with a 72-56 win over visiting Dassel-Cokato on Friday, Feb. 3.
