Boys' hoop falls in overtime of playoff opener
In a two-hour microcosm of the 2015-16 season, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team provided a roller coaster of thrills and chills – and nearly succeeded before coming up just short in a 64-62 overtime loss at Jordan in the Section 2AA playoff opener on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
“We had chance after chance after chance after chance to win that game,” coach Robb DeCorsey said. “It was just like it had been for us all season long – how many times we were right there and could not pull it out.”
It was a spine-tingling affair from start to finish, as both teams battled back and forth, with neither the Hubmen nor the Panthers able to muster up more than a two-possession lead at any point in the contest.
“We were so evenly matched,” DeCorsey said. “In a game like that there are so many plays you look back on – in our case, so many missed opportunities to put the game away – it is hard.”
