Brewers lose twice as regular season nears end

A pair of losses last week – one in league play, one out of it – dropped the Glencoe Brewers to 13-11 overall on the season.

Glencoe, playing without a number of its regulars due to the American Legion playoffs and other commitments, came up on the short side of a 13-10 slugfest at Bird Island on Wednesday, July 13, before being blanked 9-0 by Crow River Valley League (CRVL) rival Green Isle at Vollmer Field on Sunday, July 17.

Gannon Jordahl logged three RBI, with Brody Bratsch posting two RBI to lead Glencoe at Bird Island, with Tyler Chap, Derek Bratsch and Colt Trebesch each scoring a pair of runs.

However, despite the Brewers digging themselves out of a 6-2 hole with a five-run third inning, the Bullfrogs went on to score six more times over the final six innings to hang for the three-run win.

Against the Irish, Glencoe did not net a single hit until Colton Lueders registered a single in the sixth inning. The Brewers managed to load the bases in the frame, but could not push across a run en route to the shutout loss.
