Brownton’s Cabin Fever Days celebration set Friday, Saturday

Brownton’s fourth-annual Cabin Fever Days celebration will open Friday night with a comedy show and live band at the Brownton Area Civic Center.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and the first show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Featured comedians include Ron Lamprecht, a 1988 graduate of Brownton High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran who later turned to comedy.
He has been entertaining crowds coast to coast with his quick wit and self-deprecating style. A regular performer at The Icehouse Comedy Club in Pasadena, Calif., and The Hollywood Improv, Lamprecht also can be seen on ComedyTimeTV and clubs everywhere.
His act has been described as “taking the audience dancing.”
Also performing will be David Harris, a comedian and a magician who has 20 years of experience in some of the best clubs, colleges, corporate events and other venues across the United States.
He has appeared multiple times on ABC, CBS and FOX TV, and has won two Midwest Emmys for his comedy TV show, “Nate on Drums,” which aired on the Twin Cities local ABC sister affiliate station. He also has starred in award-winning commercials and sketches on TV and online.
Following the comedy show, there will be a performance by a local country band, 2/3rds Minnesota, which features local musicians Josie Sanken of Brownton and Keenan Dummer of Glencoe, as well as Tyler Stehr and Mary Speerstra.
There is a cover charge for the evening’s activities, and a cash bar will be available.
Saturday’s events will include a bean bag tournament sponsored by the Brownton Baseball Association in the civic center gymnasium. The tournament will start at 11 a.m. and is expected to be finished by 5 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.
Also on tap during the day Saturday are kids’ activities in the Brownton Public Library, also located in the civic center, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The day’s activities will be capped by the popular mystery dinner theatre at the Brownton Community Center downtown.
This year’s play is “Murder on the Petulant Express” and features a cast of local talent.
The Brownton Lions Club will serve a smoked pork chop dinner in conjunction with the production.
Tickets for all events are available at Security Bank & Trust in both Brownton and Glencoe, the Brownton City Offices, and Navigator Financial in Hutchinson.
