Brownton City Council amends snowbird rules

The Brownton City Council voted to change its snowbird ordinance at its Wednesday, Nov. 5, meeting.
The changes to the ordinance will create a no-parking period on city streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. between Nov. 1 and April 1.
The current ordinance prohibits parking on city streets during snow removal events, with a plowable snowfall defined as two or more inches of snow. If a snowplow has to go around a vehicle parked on a city street, that vehicle is photographed and given a ticket, said Police Chief Ken Bauer.
Council Member Norm Schwarze said that changing the ordinance will eliminate questions as to what is a plowable snowfall.
“This way, everyone knows what the rule is,” said Schwarze.
