January 3, 2017, 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Schwarze and Council Members Olson and Dressel were sworn in as newly elected Council.
Brett Klabunde approached Council regarding a golf hitting bay in the former school locker rooms and was given the go ahead to pursue. Pickle Ball folks have problems with sun glare; Council agreed the city will split the cost with them to invest in blinds.
Public Works Draeger reported a lift station was plugged with rags, costing the City $695 to repair. BROWNTON CITY RESIDENTS – PLEASE BE AWARE THAT FLUSHING DISPOSABLE WIPES AND RAGS OF OTHER NATURE GET CAUGHT IN OUR LIFT STATION IMPELLERS WHICH COSTS THE CITY THE ABOVE AMOUNT EACH TIME THEY NEED TO BE SERVICED. Also reported plowing snow and Christmas light removal. Homes on west side of Third Street South will be converted to underground electric in the spring.
Snow blower bids were opened with Spencer Glaseser and Logan Anderson awarded the bids at $200 and $50 respectively.
Chief Bauer reported to allow the new owners to continue to clean out the property on First Avenue South. House at 114 Third Avenue North was inspected and deemed uninhabitable; will address with owners. City will pursue responsibility of demolition of former grocery store with current owner.
2017 City Designations and appointments were accepted with no changes.
Installation of RS Fiber in Brownton is expected in 2017. PD Building will house the RS Fiber ‘computer room’; still need a separate door, AC, and sidewalk for the building.
West Central has requested a revision to the Garbage Contract; Jeff Bertram will attend the February Council meeting.
Clerk will update City Fee Schedule charges to state $150 PER variance and to change Park Shelter Rental from $25 to $40 for resident and $50 for non-resident. Fee Schedule approval tabled until February.
