Brownton council accepts deal on Division Street building

Shawn McCoy cut a deal with the Brownton City Council on May 7 for the run-down house at 818 Division St. The house, which was on track to forfeiture, had accrued over $22,000 in property taxes and assessments dating back to 2014.
McCoy, who works in the McLeod County Assessor’s Office, asked to pay $5,588 and offered to cover the taxes accrued in 2019 thus far. He also has to pay McLeod County approximately $3,000 for its portion of property taxes.
