Bruins remain unbeaten
Brownton Bruins’ skipper Doug Schuette took advantage of the May 20 exhibition game against Fairfax to give his reserves some significant playing time.
They came through for their manager, pulling out a 6-2 win to preserve the Bruins’ spotless season record, which is now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Crow River Valley League.
Brownton’s Sunday game against Carver was called because of the rainy weather, and has yet to be rescheduled. The Sunday, May 17, game against Hamburg, which also was victim to foul weather, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 30, at Barney Tadsen Field in Brownton.
After giving up a first-inning run to Fairfax, Brownton scored two runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Spencer Glaeser and Deryk Randt both singled with one out, with Glaeser scoring on Matt Schwichtenberg’s sacrifice fly and Randt reaching home on a Dylan McCormick single.
