Bruins remain undefeated
The Brownton Bruins took advantage of a struggling New Germany bullpen Sunday afternoon for a 19-5 win over the Dutchmen in seven innings.
Dutchmen starter Steve Mielke and relievers Brian Meyer and Adam Lehrke gave up a total of 15 earned runs on 22 hits.
The first two innings didn’t offer much indication of the coming blow-out.
The Bruins scored a run in the top of the first for the early lead. Lead-off hitter Spencer Glaeser scorched a double, and was soon joined by Ryan Grams, who walked. The Dutchmen tried to turn a double play on Matt Schwichtenberg’s grounder to short. Grams was tagged out at second, Schwichtenberg was safe, and Glaeser powered up the after-burners to score from second on a belly slide across the plate.
